Manhattan, KS – Grab your pencils and paper and head out into the Flint Hills to create your own masterpiece! The Flint Hills Discovery Center is hosting a Student Art Show in conjunction with its fall exhibition, Flint Hills Masters. The deadline to submit original artwork has recently been extended to Tuesday, June 30.

Students in 3rd-12th grade are invited to submit their own interpretation of the Flint Hills. The contest is open to students attending public, private or tribal schools and home school students of equivalent grade-level who live or attend school in the state of Kansas or in Osage and Kay counties in Oklahoma (home of the Osage Hills, an extension of the Flint Hills ecoregion).

Students will be assigned to the appropriate grade-level division according to their grade as of spring 2015. Artwork will be juried by a panel of judges and finalists will be notified by July 31, 2015. Up to $600 in cash prizes will be awarded for various categories including Best of Show. More information, along with rules and guidelines, can be found on our website at www.flinthillsdiscovery.org.

The Student Art Show is sponsored by Strecker-Nelson Gallery, Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation and Flint Hills Discovery Center.
