May 26 program will update trail enthusiasts on Flint Hills Nature Trail progress

Cyclists, walkers, and equestrians interested in the Flint Hills Nature Trail are invited to a program at the Old Depot Museum on May 26. Trent McCown, Park Manager with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, will discuss the construction progress being made on the Flint Hills Nature Trail and offer other updates about both the Flint Hills Nature Trail and the Prairie Spirit Trail as well as information about upcoming events.

The 45-minute program begins at 7 p.m. at the Old Depot Museum, 135 West Tecumseh in Ottawa. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Old Depot Museum at (785) 242-1250 or Trent McCown at (785) 448-2627.

The Old Depot Museum strives to educate visitors about the importance of trains in small towns and the history of Franklin County, Kansas. It is operated by the Franklin County Historical Society. The museum is also the northernmost trail head for the Prairie Spirit Trail.
