Second Saturday Speaker Series May speaker announced
The Westport Historical Society and the Westport Branch of the Kansas City, Missouri Public Library are pleased to announce the May speaker in the “Second Saturday Speaker Series.”
Please join us May 12, at 2 p.m., on the second floor of the Allen Library in Westport as we enjoy the wit and wisdom of Joe Montanari, president of Montanari Fine Art Jewelers, as he speaks on the study of old maps. Mr. Montanari has a collection of pre-Civil War maps which he will display and discuss. Among other points, he will explain interesting historical details learned by studying old maps.
Montanari, a life long resident of Kansas City, MO, has volunteered in the community for many years. He was President of the Old Westport Improvement Association in 1985 through 1987. From 1991 to 1993 he was Vice-President of the Westport Crime Prevention Committee and in 1993 he was President of the Westport Historical Society. Montanari continued his service by sitting on the board of the Missouri Jewelers and Watchmakers Association from 1998 to 2003. Since 2009, he has been President of the West Plaza Neighborhood Association.
Following Joe Montanari’s talk, you are invited to have refreshments at the 1855 Harris-Kearney House Museum. For more information, please call (816) 561-1821 or (913) 648-0952.
