Heritage Council hosts workshop for getting sites listed on registers of historic places
The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council will host a workshop for individuals and organizations interested in listing a building or site on the State or National Register of Historic Places. The workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, at 1:30 p.m., in Meeting Room C of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St, Lawrence, KS 66044.
The workshop, How to Write a Successful National Register Nomination or State Nomination, is presented by guest Amanda Loughlin, National Register Coordinator for the State of Kansas. She will provide insights into how to research and complete the nomination forms.
• The workshop may be of interest to those who own historic homes or business buildings or those who have interest in having a church or historic site placed on the state or national register.
• Buildings on the state or national register may be eligible for state tax credits.
Though the workshop is free, advanced registration is required because seating is limited.
To register, contact Jan at JShupertArick@Douglas-County.com or at 785-330-2878 by October 31, 2017
