    "Words Matter" Writing Workshop

    We have partnered with Emporia State University to host a Youth Writing Workshop. We are encouraging all youth to share their stories as we explore history. This is a three day event beginning on Wednesday June 6-8, from 9:00AM- 4:00PM on all three days. Grades 6-8 will meet from 9:00 A.M.-12 P.M.Grades 9-12 will meet from 1-4:00 P.M.     Pioneer Days at the Little Cabin

    Take a trip back in time and learn what it was like to live in a cabin. Dress, eat, work, and play like a real pioneer! During Pioneer Days, you'll be adopted into a pioneer family and work together, trying out pioneer chores and playing pioneer games. This three-day summer camp is geared toward children ages 7-12.     Grand Opening - Ben Mercer: A Retrospective Exhibition

    Now on display is a collection of mixed media paintings and historic Kansas City photographs by local artist and photogapher Ben Mercer. Also on display in the lower gallery spaces are works by Endia Lasker and Eboni Feaster. Exhibit is open Tuesday-Saturday through September 1.     Museum After Hours - Kansas Museum of History

    Join us for a very special program with John Musgrave, who was featured on Ken Burns' The Vietnam War. As a Marine, Musgrave received multiple injuries, was disabled, and returned to witness the anti-war sentiment of the day. Now he has become a poet counselor, and veteran's advocate.
