The St. Joseph Museum is the oldest of the four museums in the St. Joseph Museums, Inc. system, beginning in 1927 as the Children’s Museums of St. Joseph. Traditionally, it has been dedicated to the cultural and natural history of St. Joseph.

It is well-known for its extensive Native American collection and exhibits include clothing, accessories, fans, pottery, pipes, weapons, kachinas, jewelry and archaeological artifacts from ten cultural regions of North America. Also currently featured are exhibits on medical treatment during the Civil War.
