The Watkins Museum of History is the headquarters of the Douglas County Historical Society. The Museum hosts exhibits and programs exploring the cultural heritage of Douglas County from its settlement in the "Bleeding Kansas" period through the Civil War, reconstruction, westward expansion, and Civil Rights eras. Sharing stories of the people whose ideas and actions shaped Douglas County, the Museum seeks to inspire civic engagement today.
