On February 13, 1866, armed men came into this building and robbed this Liberty bank of $62,000, almost everything it had in assets. Upon escaping, they killed one innocent bystander and wounded another. While the robbers were never caught, the crime as attributed to the infamous James Gang. The bank was forced to close its doors.

The bank museum is meant to take the visitor back to the moment when the robbery occurred. The Seth Thomas wall clock is even set to the exact time of the heist.
