Another "Burnt District" memorial is located 10 miles from Harrisonville in Pleasant Hill. Since 1939, the US Post Office there has displayed a mural by Tom Lea which depicts a family coming back to their burnt out home after the Civil War. The painting includes a lone chimney much like the one constructed for the Burnt District Monument. A Civil War monument across the street from the Post Office describes the Civil War in the Pleasant Hill area.
