    Bison Hike

    We will explore the prairie while learning about bison. Join us on our guided bison hike to see what the prairie has to offer this time of year. Don't forget your cameras! Be prepared for a two mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, a hat and sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful in looking at bison as well as other wildlife that we may see. Dress for the weather....details >>

    Take a guided tour of land preserved by Kansas Land Trust along Buck Creek in Jefferson County. Rex Buchanan, author of "Kansas Geology: An Introduction to Landscapes, Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils", leads the walk. We'll explore and observe rocky ledges along Buck Creek. This is a primitive area with terrain with rocky slopes, tall vegetation, and wet surfaces. There are no hiking trails or restrooms. Wear durable shoes/boots, long pants and sleeves.
