    On Migration to Douglas County - A Traveling Exhibit

    This traveling exhibit features 13 panels that focus on how communities in Douglas County were populated. A variety of stories are included in the exhibit that was funded by the Kansas Humanities Council and Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area with support from the Douglas County Heritage Office. The exhibit will open at the Territorial Capital Museum on January 15th and will run through March 15th....details >>

    Daniel Boone's Family Life with the Callaway's in Missouri: The Final Eventful Chapter

    In 1799, Daniel Boone led his family from Kentucky to Femme Osage country in Missouri, near St. Charles. One of his daughters married into the Callaway family. At the end of the War of 1812, Daniel's grandson, Captain James Callaway, leading a local militia company, was killed by Sauk Indians in an ambush down near the Prairie Fork of Loutre Creek.
