Gary De Rigne was a Vietnam Platoon Sergeant in the lst Cavalry Division and is a holder of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Combat Infantrymans Badge, and other decorations. He has written a book about the war, “One Young Soldier.” He said, “there were a hundred times when I expected to be killed in the next five minutes.” Gary was one of the lucky ones, but he grieves for his more than 58,000 buddies who didn’t make it home.
