Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad Quindaro: A Kansas Portal to Freedom – Through photos the story of the Underground Railroad comes to life. An estimated 100,000 slaves between 1830 and 1861 went through the Underground Railroad. We will also be telling the story of life in Quindaro City, at that time, through artifacts found in the excavation. It is told that Quindaro City was part of the Underground Railroad as slaves passed from Parkville, MO to freedom in
