TACHA EDUCATION AWARD
Freedom’s Frontier awards partners and projects at its annual awards luncheon every November.
Deanell Reece Tacha, Retired Judge with the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, served as the founding Chair of the Board of Trustees of Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area (FFNHA) from 2004-2010. To honor her work, the FFNHA board has established an award to recognize students engaging in the issues, ideas, people, and events relating to our Congressionally-assigned themes. Winner(s) will be awarded a $100 check. To be considered, applicants must
- be an incoming 8th through 12th grade student who resides in or attends school inside the Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area. Please determine whether you are from an eligible county before submitting.
- submit their work (or digital files) and list any recognition or award(s) it may have already earned
If no eligible work is available for award that year, FFNHA may award the Tacha Award to any education-related event or program it deems an outstanding example of engaging students in FFNHA and/or its themes.
Grant awards may vary and be limited by funding to which FFNHA has access at a particular time. Any project not receiving funding during an application review cycle may consult FFNHA staff, peers and/or colleagues, refocus the project or application to better meet the criteria, and resubmit an application during a later review cycle.
General information regarding scoring decisions for a project may be requested by its applicant but decisions for the cycle are final. FFNHA stakeholders and any reviewing participants have the right of and/or responsibility to maintain confidentiality surrounding partner(s)’ submitted materials including finances, discussion regarding applications and awards, and any information that has not been made by public announcement. The applicant receives no guarantee of or to any funds by submitting a Project Grant application.
